I founded Farrell Cahill Photography in 2009 when I began my PhD in medicine. Something which started out as a means to help produce a living and reduce student debt while in school, turned into a never ending passion. I had been studying the principles of photography since 2000, which was supported by my love of movies. I still to this day take a great deal of inspiration from films and I am always trying to challenge myself to find a way to tell a complete story with a single image. Over the next two decades I would find a way to achieve this mastery through wedding photography. However, I discovered this was not possible without clients themselves.
Very specifically, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is not anything more important than listening diligently to the client to ensure their vision is brought to life, and captured! In fact, when looking back through my catalogue trying to define my independent style I very often pause to make sure that I share the credit of my work with the client themselves. Capturing moments throughout a wedding day with artistic flare isn’t the challenge anymore. It’s working so closely with every client that I get the opportunity to modify my approach, when necessary, to ensure that their special moments are captured the way in which they envisioned them.
Through the years in this business I have met some extraordinary people and made many life long relationships, including the one I have with my wife who happened to attend a client’s engagement photoshoot. I appreciate that being so intimately involved in a couples wedding day results in building friendships and memories that last beyond the “Big Day”!
